I am prepared to do my part as an American Citizen today and vote in the primary and eat some paczkis (pronounced poonch-kee), how about you? Still very undecided about this presidential race, but have some local races I'd like to vote in. Everyone I talk to seems to be much more interested in what's at stake this time around, which is a good thing. Now if we could just get rid of all the political commercials on tv, I'd be a happy camper! Are they obnoxious or what?
Anyway,...it is also Fat Tuesday! The day we are supposed to live it up, party and get all our sin out of the way before tomorrow, Ash Wednesday, when we are very, very sorry for all the partying and sinning we did today. Huh?? Okay, I am catholic, and that really never made a whole lot of sense to me! However, the having fun and eating a bunch of yummy food does appeal to me, so hey, count me in!
I'm getting a little nervous about the next few days to come, the weather people here are telling us a ferocious winter storm is headed our way and we may get another foot of snow with blizzard conditions, yikes! I can't believe it's February already, F-E-B-R-U-A-R-Y people! Trying not to get too bummed about the gray, snowy, blah days and thinking that Spring is really, literally weeks away. Yay!
Speaking of which, I am mentally prepared for Spring, however, physically, not so much! Oy! I have been very bad about exercising since the holidays, and the super cold temps we've had around here for the last month or so have made it really uncomfortable to walk. I do own a treadmill, so really, that's not an excuse (but it sounds good!). My girlfriend Michelle and I were walking five miles a day together, up until the freeze your butt off weather started. I've got to get back on the wagon, though, before I break it! Do any of you have a good work out/diet routine? I'd be interested in hearing what works for other people. Maybe we could start an "Exercise and Diet" blog support group? Wouldn't it be cool if we could use each other as our conscience to keep us honest and on the straight and narrow? Just a thought!
Well, I need to get going to the grocery store this morning. The savages have eaten all the food I bought last week, hate when that happens! :) Not only do we need the necessities, like bread, milk, eggs,.. but I have an urgent request from my son Brian for hair gel, so you know, it's an EMERGENCY! That boy just cracks me up! He came to the table this morning to eat his breakfast and he was holding a tissue to his forhead with his hand. He looked like he had a terrible headache or something, so I asked him if he was feeling alright. He said, yeah, he was fine, why do you ask? I'm like, uh, the grabbing your forehead thing, what's up with that? Oh, that! I ran out of hair gel and couldn't get my hair to stay up, so I borrowed your hairspray to make it stiff, and now I'm holding it in place until it dries. O.Kay. He sat and cut his waffles with one hand and continue to hold his forehead for at least five full minutes. Amazing! Andrew told him he's gay, of course, because anyone who takes an interest in their appearance MUST be gay. Kids! So glad they have school today! :) Have a good one everybody!

I was informed by my HUbby that I was pronouncing paczkis wrong...it's supposed to be punch-key, I keep saying pull-key. Ok, so I was WAY off, I'm not Polish, but sometimes I wonder. Sorry bad punchline to the Polish! :)
Happy voting!
Loving those paczkis, and that would be why you can count me in on the diet/exercise group. That was one of my New Year's goals and, while I have "sort of" taken a couple of baby steps toward that end, I need to step it up. Yeah...like, a lot. So we should do it. After eating our paczkis :). I have lots more to say to you, but I'll wait til after work--just a little something for you to look forward to...hehehe!
Oh Lizzy--I just read your comment. That breaks my heart. I am so sorry. You and I both know that once "it's" in the liver... And now I will never call it a** cancer again. I really, really hope I didn't offend you or hurt your feelings. Wouldn't wanna do that for the world. Ya know??? More later...
Sounds like you might have to batten down the hatches and ride out one big a** storm!
It stopped snowing thankfully - I am SOOOOOOO ready for Spring - eventhough, I too, am out of shape.
I'll just be out of shape in nicer weather!!
Hallie
I have no idea what a paczkis is but I hope you enjoy yours!
I've been on a diet since Jan 3rd. Only lost 7 pounds so you don't want my secrets! LOL!
Hope you don't get too big of a storm!
Told ya I'd be back. And ya know what? Pam's 7 lbs that she lost? Guess who found them??? But the good news is this--these are the baby steps I was talking about--it would usually be 10 lbs that I found! HAHAHA! Why, oh why, is it so much easier to pack it on than it is to take it off.
I'm interested to see how Super Tuesday turns out. And, yes, getting rid of those obnoxious commercials would be good, but I fear it's going to get much worse before it gets better. Here's all I know for sure, so far: I am doing much, more more research on the candidates this time around than I EVER have done before. And I'm STILL much, more more undecided than I EVER have been before. OY to this, too! It's a little fun to chat about it a little, though--nobody I know ever says much about it...hehehe!
And just for Brian...I found the very BEST hair gel in the world. Kiehl's Clean Hold Styling Gel. Expensive, but the best I've ever tried. Just sayin'. Ever-helpful me, huh? HAHA!
Happy Fat Tuesday Lizzy!! I loved the hairspray story - too funny. Hope you had a good day - see you later. Kellan
Good job voting! One of the advantages of being in a state that won't matter by the time we have our primary is that we aren't deluged with all of the commercials. You take the good with the bad.
Never stand between a man and his hair products. Really.
Well I'm glad you voted! Woot woot! How exciting. I have never tried a paczki, but I sure have read alot about them lately - maybe I should!
Happy Fat Tuesday!
You might have another snow storm?! It snowed like crazy when I was there and it was so much colder than here in MA. Too bad I couldn't meet you! I covered a chunk of the Chicago area seeing as I was in Wilmette, Evanston, Joliet and Chicago.
I'm eagerly watching the results of Super Tuesday on TV.
I just ate a big piece of cake because tomorrow is Ash Wednesday and in addition to no meat it is a fasting day!
It's days like Ash Wednesday that make me wish I was still a Protestant! :)
so funny about the hair gel. is that where i am heading someday with my boys?
good luck with the diet/exercise thing. i am trying to do the same. oh it's not easy!
have a good one!
btw, i left you something on my blog!
As a Canadian I am very interested in the out come of tonight. It semi dirves my husband crazy that I follow US politics more closley than I do Canadian politics. What can I say I <3 CNN lol
I am with you on the whole excercise thing or lack there of. I used to aim for 1 hr on our home treadmill but I found that too much and so I just wouldn't do anything. I then limited it to 30 min and find that much more managable. It also helps to wait until a good show comes on then I am distracted and the time seeems to go faster.
I lol at your son and his hair sprayed hair. I have a feeling that is going to be my future ;-)
Your son and his hair gel are too funny! he he he
Good luck with the diet and exercise. I'm in the same boat with you. I'm trying to get back on track! I like your diet and exercise support blog idea :)
no worries, lizzy! hope you didn't take offense when i corrected you about thomas! i did it more jokingly so my sister would see it!
