Hooray Day! It's Friday!

That's what my mom used to say to me every Friday when I was a kid. "Hooray Day! It's Friday!" She was a working woman back when most women were stay at home moms, somewhat of a renegade, I guess. I'm not sure if she was excited about the fact that it was the beginning of the weekend and she didn't have to get up and go to work, or the fact that every other Friday was pay day. Probably a little of both! I give her credit for always doing what was needed of her. Whether it was working in a bar emptying ash trays (yuk) when she was twelve yrs. old to make some extra money for her family that was very poor, or supporting me and my sister, paying for college tuition, etc., she was always there for us.

I've spoken about this before, so forgive me if I'm repeating myself, but my mom was really a remarkable woman. She is no longer with us, it will be ten years next month, but not a day goes by that I don't think of her at some point during the day. Either something will happen, usually with my kids, that I think would amuse her, or I see or hear something that reminds me of her. Strange. Maybe that is her way of staying connected to me? I sometimes feel as though an angel is sitting on my shoulder. Perhaps it's her!

Anyway,...I love Fridays for this reason, and always find myself in a pretty good mood! I'm kind of like that with birthdays and holidays, too. I think the anticipation of what's to come is sometimes more exciting than the actual event. Do you ever feel that way? Like, Saturday may be totally boring, but Friday I'm thinking about what fun things might take place this weekend. I also adore Christmas Eve, and New Year's Eve, but Christmas Day and New Year's Day somehow never live up to my expectations. I don't know, that's probably weird, huh?

So, on the Eve of this weekend I am excited, yes excited, because we have absolutely nothing to do! It's the first weekend we do not have any basketball games, family parties, get togethers, appointments,......NADA! I am so looking forward to not having an agenda to follow, somewhere to be,.....the possibilities are endless! My husband and I could go out for a nice dinner, or a movie. We could just stay home, rent some movies and build a fire with the kids. We could invite some friends over for dinner, drinks and some laughs,....whatever we feel like! YAY!

But, before I go and do my happy Friday dance, I would like to acknowledge a fellow blogger, Jo-n, who has given me an award. (a gift for me, on a Friday, what could be better?) Thank you so much Jo-n! I am always so honored to receive these awards from my fellow blogger friends. It truly touches my heart, and I thank you! Jo-n is a working at home mom who lives in Kajung Selangor Malaysia. Please go and check out her blog, Shower Your Children With Love-The Right Way. She is a wonderful mom who has an artful way of writing and offers a unique view of what it's like to live in Malaysia. This is the beautiful award she gave me, it's called the FOREVER FRIEND AWARD. I would like to in turn give this award to Hallie at Wonderful World of Wieners, Kim-d at Lifeafter..., and Girlymom at The Red Door. Ladies, you are amazing blog friends and I look forward to talking to you all each day!

Jo-n also gave this award to all her blogger friends free for the taking, just because! How nice is that? So, of course, I took her up on it! I'd like to pass along that spirit of giving by offering this award to any of the blogger friends that stop by here, too. Enjoy! The sentiment is so very true!

Well, I hope that you all have a great weekend! I know that some of you have exciting plans in store, and others are nursing their way back to good health (yes, Hallie, that would be YOU!). Hope that you enjoy your weekend whatever it is that you will be doing! Tootles!

First off, thank you from the bottom of my sickly heart for the award...you know I feel exactly the same about you! And wahtever you're doing to make me better, you keep it up! Although I am still under the weather, I THINK I can see brighter days coming. (of course, those brighter days may forever be attached to this annoying cough!)

Glad you guys have a "down" weekend. Seems like if anyone needs it, you do! You are ALWAYS on the go!

I plan to stare at Shmoops A LOT and try not to cough in his general direction.

Can't believe it's time to take him to the airport. :(

Congratulations on the awards! I usually feel the same way about weekends. It gets me motivated to get all my laundry and cleaning done. I have mixed emotions about this weekend. I cooking a great dinner tonight (grilled pork tenderloin and salad with homemade honeymustard dressing and of course good drinks, like maybe a vanilla martini), we're going out to dinner tomorrow without the kids, BUT I'm thinking about the 2 basketball games tomorrow (the last two), baseball signups Sunday), bingo night at school tonight (which means we either eat a late dinner tonight or don't have drinks until we get home). This is too long for now, I'll have to blog about this!

Lizzy~ You are so wonderful! I love it! Thank you for the award, I always look forward to coming over here to see what you are up to. You are just the friendliest person, it is so easy to call you a friend! I don't know your mother, but she obviously had to be an amazing lady to raise a daughter like you!

Enjoy your nice weekend. We have a bday party for an annoying neighbor girl...in a hotel swimming pool...screaming, wet, cold, loud, spoiled...can I hang out at your place? I don't wanna go! *me pouting!*

I did fail to get a babysitter for tonight though, so it looks like we'll be staying home and lounging instead of getting gussied up and going to the school auction, shucks...didn't really want to go anyways. Enjoy your weekend!

Hope you are enjoying your weekend with nothing to do! I am jealous-as I will once again be chained to this computer trying to study :(

Fridays always make me happy too-as my Analese would say "it's the day before a No-Daddy work day" :)
(that and my husband does the grocery shopping on Friday nights so I think I am excited about all the food that will soon be here :))

I like so much hearing about your mom and these are special memories that we are lucky that you share with us!

I'm glad you have a relaxing weekend ahead - we do too, for the most part.

Congrats on the great awards and thanks for passing the "You'll Always Have Room In My Heart" on to your friends. Since I am definitely your friend I am going to accept that award and display it proudly - thanks.

Have a great weekend - see you later. Kellan

I know exactly what you mean, the anticipation of the weekend, or the holiday, is always more exciting than the actual event. Not that it isn't fun or great, but the thrill of whats to come is the best!

Hope you have (had) a great one! We had nothing planned and pretty much didn't do much. That's OK, we have plenty of weekends that get pretty crazy.

Take care!

Your mom does sound like an amazing woman and I like how you equate your frequent thoughts of her as her way of staying close to you. What a wonderful way to look at it. Your positive attitude is always an inpiration to me Lizzy, thanks!

Congratulations on your awards, you deserve them!

:-)

I love Fridays too, and I'm a SAHM. Old habits die hard from when I was working I guess.
