Mish-Mosh

Hi All!
Oops! I guess I deserve a dentention today for being "tardy", running just a teensy bit behind here, yesterday was one of those days! As far as Mondays go, it had to have been one of the Mondayest. (and I really don't know what that means, but it sounds kind of bad, doesn't it?) I can safely say, now that it's over, that I should have just pulled the covers up over my head and stayed in bed yesterday!
The only bright spots in the black hole that was my day yesterday were receiving two (yes, two!) awards from two of my favorite bloggin' friends, Girlymom at the Red Door and Stacie at Staciesmadness. You both deserved these awards, and I thank you ladies for sharing them with me, it's truly an honor!
I'd like to pass this Kind Blogger Award on to Kim d over at Lifeafter. She has to be one of the kindest, most sincere people I've ever had the pleasure of getting to know. If you are looking for a friend who will listen, care, and be there for you, then you need to be talkin' to my girl Kim d! Way to go Kim, you have earned this just by being YOU!

The Biggest Heart Award, I would like to give to a new blogging friend, Irene. Irene's blog is Our Little Piece of the World. Irene is a SAHM raising three beautiful little girls, Christina, Caroline and Kallie. She, her husband and daughters all live happily in Pittsburgh. Irene loves her daughters and is compassionate and caring, especially with her daughter Caroline, who has special needs. You're a great mom, Irene, that's why I think you deserve this award!

Now, as Ricky Ricardo would say to Lucy, "You got some splainin' to do!" My day started out yesterday with temperatures that were below zero and wind chills to match, so I slipped on my blue tights and leotard (okay, I struggled for twenty minutes trying to pull the tights up over my chunky thighs), threw on my red cape and hopped in my van. Yes, it was Super Van Mom to the Rescue!!! Children from near and far came running begging for a ride to school, which Super Van Mom abliged cheerfully! My first load was High Schoolers, after I dumped, er, dropped them off, I came back for the Junior High set. They all got to school before the final bell,...Ahh! My work is done here. (takes off Super Mom outfit and puts on some comfy sweats).
Here's a little story for ya from my grocery shopping yesterday. I witnessed something I've never seen before. The woman who was in front of me at the Deli had a major melt down and cursed out the poor man wearing the silly little paper hat. She wasn't firing on all rocket boosters, (I'm just sayin'). She had her panties all in a twist about which machine he could or could not use to slice her ham. He started to put the slab 'o ham on the slicer and she screamed, "Wait! No, not THAT machine! That one looks dirty to me!" He looked at her rather confused, as did everyone standing nearby, and then we were all stretching our necks to look at the meat slicer to see if in fact it was dirty. It was not. Hmmmm. Okay. So, the man starts to set the ham down on the slicer next to it and she screams again, "NO! Not THAT machine! That one is dirty, too!" The man, now looking rather perturbed says to her, "WHICH machine would you like me to use, lady?" "THAT one." She pointed to the very last one on the end. The man goes to that machine and starts to slice her ham to the specifics she had requested, and she starts screaming at him, "You are doing that all wrong! You #$%@!!! I said I wanted it sliced thin and you're slicing it too thick!" She was screaming and frothing at the mouth, arms flailing in the air,...it was quite the performance! The rest of us waiting in line now with our deer in the headlights faces and mouths hanging open didn't know what to say or do. She finally said, "Just forget it! I don't want your stinkin' filthy meat anymore!", and stormed out of there in a huff. (Can you say Prozac?) I felt so sorry for this poor guy! He turned around, put the ham back in the display, and says to himself, "I hate Mondays." I'm so with you, dude!

I won't bore you with all the details, but just suffice to say the rest of my day was equally strange, with my son Brian forgetting to tell me that his basketball play-off game was changed to last night from tonight, and he remembered exactly 15 minutes before game time. Thanks, Brian! My husband losing his wallet and all his credit cards, which after turning the entire house upside down, tearing the car apart, a trip back to his office and the restaurant he ate lunch at yesterday, we found the damn thing up on a shelf in the laundry room where he took his pants off! Grrrrrrrrr.
And, on the diet front, I'm doing pretty good, I'm happy to report! How are all of you doing? I've been very careful about what I've been eating, no junk food, and I've exercises three out of the last five days. It hasn't been all that difficult to say no to the snacks and sweets so far, but I'm a little nervous about Valentine's Day. I did buy the boys some candy, and I don't want to be tempted to eat any! That will be a challenge for me. Also, it's hard to find the time to exercise! (I know, I know, that's an excuse) but honestly, it is hard to force yourself out of bed earlier than usual, or to squeeze it in during the day when so many other things are going on (like blogging, gosh!) I'm working on it!
I loved all your comments about the beans, you're too funny! Actually, with all the fruit and veggies and whole grain goodness I've been eating (all healthy like and everything), I don't need any beans! Lets just say I've been quite "musical" all by myself! :) Does your body adjust to that? I'm really hoping it does, otherwise, this diet could really cut into my social life! Well, hope you all have a great Tuesday!

ugh, what a Monday! I thought mine was hard, with trying to finish up a project with two tired and grouchy girls :) Congrats on the awards!!

That is great about the diet and exercise! It's funny, I have gone the opposite...eating not so healthy the past few days. You got to love cravings and I have been having them full force lately! I actually have not eaten a chocolate bar in 2 years, due to not finding any safe ones out there. My lovely husband brought me home one last week and I was in heaven...so much so that he searched and found me another one! So lots of chocolate highs for me...I think I need to go eat another piece right now :)

Hope today is going better for you! We woke up to snow which is always exciting in this house, and am off to vote as soon as the girls wake up!

Congrats on the awards!

Yeah, spell check has been out of commission since the last "upgrade." I keep checking blogger's message board, but they don't seem to be in any hurry to fix it. Grr . . .

Wow! Thanks so much for the award and the kind words. You are so sweet!

And that story about the crazy lady is CRAZY! I always feel so sorry for store clerks when they have to deal with a nut case.

I had trouble with images the other day and spell check has been down for awhile. I went to Blogger Help and they are aware of the problem...fixing it- I don't know.

Sorry you had a weird bummer day. For some reason my days have been kinda wacky lately too, seems nothing goes as planned. Little Dels had a huge blowout yesterday and it wasn't the best timing, I threw her in the kitchen sink and washed her up and dressed her, handed her off to my Father in Law who was over ALL-DAY yesterday, then made dinner for all of my family and my brother in law, sister in law they have a 3 year old and a 2 month old...they came over to do Molly's hair- well the FIL was still there so I told him to just stay for dinner which meant MIL was coming too and then the SIL who still lives at home, so my nice quiet meal for a small group quickly grew large, then larger. It was nuts. I'm still recovering. Anyways, the diet front...I'm trying. I put less on my plate, but what I have noticed abot my eating is that I need to reteach myself to eat more throughout the day. I get so busy that I "forget" to eat and then I am starving and will eat ANYTHING in front of me. I did have a candy bar today, but I NEED my chocolate fix. You are doing better than me on the exercising though, unless I can count shoveling...it kicks my ass...the snow piles are so high that to throw the snow is really getting tough. Listen to me whine...I am so anxious for spring. Where we live is a small downtown and I love taking the kids for a walk to window shop and see the water. *sigh*

Have a great night Lizzie!

Why hello, my tardy friend--HAHAHA! But after hearing about your Monday, we'll count this one as excused. Most Definitely Excused :)! I'm just glad you were not a victim of the giant can of beans!

First of all...thank you, thank you, thank you, Lizzy! You know, I have had an absolutely fantastic day. It wasn't butt-freezing cold, the sun came out, and I managed to get all of my errands done. Plus I got to have lunch with my daughter, which was long overdue and very nice. So, all in all, a really nice day--right? Well then I come over here and find the coolest little somethin' somethin' waiting for me, and words wonderful enough to make me cry...well, what a stellar way to wrap up the day. You know me, Lizzy, I will NEVER cease to love getting these blogging awards, so big smooch on the cheek :)!

All of that being said, now I just want you to 'fess up and admit that it was you who wigged out over the deli ham!!!! BWAHAHAHA! People never cease to amaze me. This is what happens when people think they no longer need their meds...hehehe. At least some of us ***cough^^me^^cough***know they need it and wouldn't think of quitting! Props to the deli guy, though; if it was me, she would have gotten her ham right in the kisser. I've found that I really do rather like to just stay home on Mondays...it's mostly peaceful here!!!!

I'm doing so-so on our un-diet. I have been making an effort to at least move around and walk around more if not outright exercising--although I do have a few chair exercises I do at work. I've been pretty good with the eating--could be better, but also have been much worse. I'll take it for now. I'm the same as Girlymom--it's key for me to eat small amounts throughout the day. If I don't I completely overeat when I do get around to eating. So I have to get into the groove of that! It's coming along; gotta start someplace, huh? WE WILL DO IT; WE ARE WOMEN. WE ROAR. hehehe...

Well, Lizzy, I'm taking my bling and going for now...

Congrats on your awards! I am about to quit blogging for a while... that is until they fix the spellcheck.

Oh, that comic is hysterical, as was that crazy story about that lunatic at the deli counter - what was her problem? Poor deli guy! Congrats on the awards Lizzy - you deserve them my friend! Take care and I hope you have a great Wednesday - see ya. Kellan

First of all congrats on the awards! They are much deserved :-)

The lady at the deli? I think maybe she's the one that sat in front of us on the plane. Or maybe a relative? ;-)

And that last cartoon? Too funny!

Congrats on the awards! I laugh at adults throwing temper tantrums just like I laugh at my kids when they act like that. I can not believe how ridiculous she was acting, it would have made for a good laugh though ;-)

Way to go on the dieting and excercise keep up the good work!

Boy what a crazy day! Usually when I see someone act like that, I just stare at them, hoping they'll be embarrassed. I also say something to the person they were rude to, like, "Wow, she was having a bad day, huh!".

loook at you with all your comments and bling...you are awesome!

That woman was psycho.
Damn hubby and his wallet.

Hang in there with the healthy eating...I have been gassy too, though probably no more than normal *blush*

All I can say is WTH on the crazy lady! I would have laughed at her! To think that may have been the worst thing that happened to her all day! WEIRDO!
Love the blog. Good job on the diet. Diets suck. I went on one after I had Bean and I hated every minute of it. I did Atkins though and it was HARD! You can't eat any of the good stuff! LOL
Other than that I am great and the job is AWESOME. I love it.
Thanks for askin and I am glad we "met" too. I adore your blogs!
