Oh, I am running so behind today! This has been a crazy morning and the beginning of what will be a crazy day, so bear with me, folks! I really shouldn't even be doing this post, but I feel this strange obligation to do it, like it's my job or something and I'm going to miss my deadline. Weird I know,...you'd think I get paid to do this! I guess I just really like you guys and I'm worried you all would miss me too much. (You would, wouldn't you?? *just nod your head in agreement, okay? It's good for my ego!)
Anyhoo,...my day started out with the alarm not going off (accidentally set for PM instead of AM), not the best way to jump out of bed, having a heart attack and all! Got the kids off to school just in the nick of time, thank goodness. Then I let the dog out to do his morning "business", not realizing there was a cute little bunny rabbit sitting in my backyard. Charlie took off after the poor thing, but it was much quicker than he was so it got away, that's the good news. The bad news is, my backyard resembles a swamp right now due to the melting snow and rain we had last week. Charlie was covered from head to toe in mud and looked like the creature from the black lagoon, requiring an emergency bath on the spot,..what a mess! After getting him cleaned up I decided to throw in a load of clothes while I straightened up the house. When the load was done I opened the washing machine only to find that my son had left some jolly rancher cherry candies in the pocket of his jeans, and they melted or disintegrated all over my washing machine and all the clothes inside it now have bright red spots all over them. Yeah,...I'm thinking the alarm didn't go off for a REASON. I was not supposed to get out of bed this morning!
It's days like this that make me wonder how on earth I would ever be able to function if I actually HAD a job I had to be at, like by 8:00 am. Granted, not all mornings are like this one, but obviously it happens sometimes. What do you working moms do? My hat is absolutely off to you all! I just can't imagine calling my boss and saying, "Um,..I'm going to be late today because I have to give my dog a bath." Ugh! Oh, I know I could handle it, I've done it before. I guess it's an excuse on my part, it's scary thinking about going back into the work force. The problem is, I've been away from it for a long time. I'm sure like everything else, once you jump back on the merry-go-round it's probably like you never got off to begin with, but,....for today, I'm thankful I didn't have to make that phone call!
Well,..I need to go and give myself a shower now, taking my MIL to the lung specialist for a check-up this afternoon. She likes me to go with her because she gets all tongue tied and forgets what the doctor tells her otherwise. Having worked with three doctors for many years, they don't intimidate me in the least. I keep telling her they are working for you, not the other way around, but she's got that old-school mentality that reveres doctors like they are gods or something. Silly! They all put their pants on one leg at a time, just like the rest of us. You just have to imagine them all in their undies! :o)
Hope you all have a great day! With the way mine is going so far, please wish me luck, I think I'm going to need it!

Oh god. I feel for you. I hate days like that. I just want to crawl back in bed. I hope that your day improves tremendously.
Sounds like you had fun but you're just trying to make it seem like it was miserable!! You know you LOVE finding melted candy and muddy dogs first thing in the AM!!
I would GLADLY be accused of running an illegal GS cookie ring out of my house! How cool would it be to be remembered long after I was gone as the woman who loved thing mints so much she went to jail for them!!
(on a side note...wonder if they have thin mints in the pokie?)
Hallie :)
I hope you are able to get through your day.
I agree with you about the job...I would never be on time either!
Kimmy
Oh no! It's starting to look like a mud pit around here too, thank heavens we don't have a dog. I just wouldn't have it in me to bath the bugger.
I am so with you on the working thing. I would be in the looney bin if I had a job that required me to be somewhere every morning on time. Or I would have been fired.
Let's go with the looney bin, it somehow doesn't sound so terrible.
Hope the day gets much much better from here on out!
My hat is off to all those working moms too - I would have a hard time getting up and going every morning to have to go outside the house to get to work!!
I hope you day gets better and all goes well at you MIL appointment - see you later, Lizzy - Kellan
What a day! Just don't say--I don't think this day can get any worse.....
(I look at working moms and all I can think is 'wow!'--I could not imagine if I had to presentable and alert at 8 am!)
good luck sweetie!
Lizzy,
I'm sorry that you are having a rough day. I think we have all been there.
Hope you have a great day tomorrow!!!
Steph
Awww, man, Lizzy...I'm really scared to even think about what happened after you left your house to BEGIN your day...BWAHAHAHA! I am very glad, however, that you had the good sense to stop, draw a calming breath, and BLOG. If you would not have made us a priority, I don't even want to think about what might have happened :)!
I am completely amazed by women who have a couple of children and who work outside the home, too! I just had ONE high-school aged kid to get out the door each morning AND a 150% involved and active husband/dad helping--and it was a balancing act. If you really wanna shiver, think about the SINGLE, WORKING MOMS. Everybody always just seems to do what needs to be done. But, man, there's got to be lots and lots of tired-ness involved!
I can hardly wait to hear how the rest of your day went...
See, if it had been a boring day, you wouldn't have had anything to write about.
Lizzy,
Doesn't Charlie know not to chase bunnies???? While I don't have a dog, pretty soon I will be chasing, my kids around in the mud! They love to get dirty.
I hope your day slowed down a bit. Hopefully you're putting your feet up right now!!! I hope your mil is doing okay.
Talk to you soon.
Oh man... busy day indeed.
KUDOS to you, my friend!
Nodding my head! ;)
I hope your day gets better! I have had to give my dog a bath at 6am because she got sprayed by a skunk a few times and still made it to work by 7:30! LOL! She did finally get smart and stay away from skunks in her old age. I don't think chasing rabbits will ever be something they grow out of tho! Guess you'll be doing lots of bunny checks on 'wet' days! ;)
Your "that old-school mentality that reveres doctors like they are gods or something" reminded me of my Mom's last hospital stay. When my sister finally reached the point where she was convinced that "nice" wasn't going to get the desired result in care for Mom, she let the Mad Dog (me, of course [don't let the disguise fool you ... when someone that I care about is being abused ... LOOK OUT!])
After I informed the doctors office that I had an off-duty police officer AND a notary public sittig in Mom's room and taking notes on her situation, I said "Though Mom thinks that you walk on water, I am not convinced that you can even PASS water!" He got the point. Mom received SO MUCH attention that she was a bit overwhelmed.
It is a 'good thing' that your MIL has you!!
I feel for you! I know I shouldn't laugh, but having to give the dog a bath and then finding melted candy in the wash? What are the chances of that? Actually probably the same as finding out my kids were playing in the toilet!
wow. i hope your day got better! if not you are in serious trouble girl!
